As we celebrate Valentine's Day, I thought it would be nice to gather some scriptures about what the prophets have written about love over the centuries. These things help give perspective.
A new commandment I give
unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one
another. (John 13:34)
I know thy
heart, and have heard thy prayers concerning thy brethren. Be not partial
towards them in love above many others, but let thy love be for them as for
thyself; and let thy love abound unto all men, and unto all who love my name. (D&C
112:11)
3 For this is
the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not
grievous. (1 John 5:2-3)
Love worketh no ill to his
neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of
the law. (Romans 13:10)
Love not the world, neither
the things that are in the world. If any man
love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (1 John 2:15)
For if ye love them which
love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. (Luke
6:32)
There is no fear in love;
but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth
is not made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18)
Happy Valentine's Day!
